BONGABON, Nueva Ecija: A dairy project aimed at helping address malnutrition here is seen benefiting grade school children, among others, who are the target recipients of the school-based feeding program (SBFP)-milk feeding program.

During the turnover of the project over the weekend, the Bongabon Dairy Cooperative (BDC) received P500,000 in funds from the local government unit for operating expenses.to implement the farm-focused enterprise development project of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

The Department of Science and Technology provided the cooperative with technical training and extension assistance, while the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) committed sustained milk supplementation to the project.

Under an agreement with DAR, the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Education will procure fresh milk from cooperatives and local dairy producers through a partnership with the National Dairy Authority and the PCC.

The milk supplementation program that is a priority agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte under Republic Act 11037, or “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act,” is aimed at preventing malnutrition among grade school kids.
