Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Limay Mayor Nelson C. David, Dr. Elmer B. de Leon of the Limay Polytechnic College, and Dr. Ruby S. Matibag of the Bataan Peninsula State College for the extension of the zero-kilometer food project to the people of Limay.
The MOA, signed on March 7, 2024, seals the partnership of DA with the local government unit of Limay, Bataan, as well as two of the most prominent learning institutions in the province.
The ‘0KM’ food project is a research initiative designed to develop an efficient data collection system for supply and demand at the local government level.
Piloted in the municipalities of Hermosa and Dinalupihan, the project seeks to facilitate greater access for consumers to fresh, locally-produced agricultural goods at reasonable prices, while helping farmers raise their income by reducing transportation distances for their produce, thus mitigating unnecessary production and marketing expenses.
