Kadiwa ng Pangulo brings basic commodities to QC Hall, other cities in Metro Manila.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP), a government farm-to-consumer marketing program aimed at enhancing access and affordability of agricultural products and essential commodities for Filipinos, opens at  Quezon City Hall on February 15, 2024, to bring fresh agricultural produce directly to consumers.

The KNP showcased various commodities, such as fruits, vegetables, and processed products from six participating suppliers, including the Agripreneur Farmers and Producers Association Inc.; San Jose Matulid United Farmers Association; Mama Agnes Enterprise; Yulaik Food Products; Amarich Marketing International; and R and J Eggcelent Duck Farm. 

The Bureau of Plant Industry and Sugar Regulatory Administration also joined the event, offering vegetable seeds and quality refined sugar. Another 12 suppliers providing goods and basic necessities were also invited by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to participate in the activity. 

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, together with DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service Director Junibert De Sagun, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary Benjo Benavides, DTI Assistant Secretary Dominic Tolentino, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Odilon Pasaraba, and DTI Regional Director Ma. Sofia Narag, visited the different Kadiwa booths.

The KNP will expand to more areas nationwide in line with the President’s directive to stabilize food supply and basic commodity prices amidst El Niño effects.

Aside from Quezon City, KNP is conducted simultaneously in selected cities in Metro Manila, including Pasig, Taguig, Muntinlupa, and the municipality of Pateros, until tomorrow (February 16), with a total of 97 Kadiwa suppliers taking part in the program. ### (photos by Joseph Henry Elamparo, DA-AFID)
